Newsweek declares O simply fab

President Obama’s backing of gay marriage dominated the political press over the weekend as Newsweek pronounced him “the first gay president” on its cover.

The magazine, which also depicts a rainbow halo above Obama’s head, has an essay by gay columnist Andrew Sullivan, hailing the president’s policies.

“When you step back a little and assess the record of Obama on gay rights, you see, in fact, that this was not an aberration,” Sullivan wrote.

“It was an inevitable culmination of three years of work.”
