Prom is a sacred time for high school girls. It’s a chance to channel their inner Kate Middleton (or, depending on the school’s dress code, their inner Kim Kardashian), get gussied up and dance under the watchful eye of chaperones.
While prom traditions have remained largely unchanged over the years, the big night’s fashions have gotten progressively more red-carpet than “Pretty in Pink.”
This season is no exception. City girls are vetoing over-the-top pouffy dresses and shunning skimpy, barely there gowns for glam, more grown-up prom wear.
