Subject: Gov. Scott Walker wins Wisconsin recall vote Wed Jun 06, 2012 12:24 pm
He’s a union slayer. Embattled GOP Gov. Scott Walker handily won re-election in a bitter recall vote last night — beating back the labor movement’s attempt to boot him, and providing Republicans a lift in their bid to retake the White House this fall. With 97 percent of precincts reporting, Walker led his Democratic rival, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, 53-46 percent. Voter turnout was high across much of the state. Walker’s victory was a crushing defeat for labor unions, which poured millions of dollars into the recall bid and dispatched troops from across the country — including scores of activists from New York — to the Badger State.
