The “Herbie: Fully Loaded” star told cops after the Friday accident that an 18-wheeler cut her off on Pacific Coast Highway, causing the rear-end crash that sent her and an assistant briefly to the hospital. But TMZ subsequently reported that Lohan then changed her tune by telling police she’d replaced the brakes on her flashy, leased sports car two days prior to the crash, and that the brakes failed when she tried to stop suddenly. The Santa Monica Police Department is reportedly investigating the incident, and the findings could put Lohan in violation of probation for a 2007 drunken-driving conviction. The 25-year-old actress has been jailed before for various probation violations.
