The final card, the river, was a king of spades. Smirnov again led out with a bet of $700,000 before Morgan came over the top and went all-in for about $2M more. Smirnov then folded his four eights, face-up, giving Morgan the pot. Smirnov’s four eights could only have lost to a nine and ten of spades. Morgan did not reveal if he had the straight flush, but Smirnov defended his play.
