The trade deadline has come and gone and while the majority of the Yankees’ rivals have restocked and reloaded for a playoff run, New York decided against making a big splash at the July 31 non-waiver deadline. While it is very easy to understand the Yankees’ desire to keep prospects and why they did not make a major move (they want to remain at or under the $189M threshold for the 2014 season and have the third-best record in baseball), I wonder if they could have benefitted from making a least one big pickup.
