Ferrell found a kindred spirit in political junkie Galifianakis, with whom he produced “The Campaign,” alongside director Jay Roach and Ferrell’s frequent collaborator, Adam McKay. The two wildly popular comics had never done a film together before, and found an easy shorthand right away.
